Being a leader requires asking yourself the right questions in a continuous development approach so to stimulate your inner side continuously through a critical analysis and wile maintaining “sight” on short-term goals without losing the view of the long-term ones.
So let’s touch some of the things you may reflect on:
- Meeting time is a costly one, use it wisely. We abuse always of meetings which are instead at the same time a resource and a threat. Think about how much time you spent in meetings in the last period, how many were in person, how many virtual? How effective were they? What would have made them more effective? Were these meetings for synthesis or cooperation? Meetings should be of synthesis not a work together session, which is very useful but has different rules to be effective
- Great ideas require time. If you want to plan a strategy, it will never happen as a lightning. Set aside time for strategic thinking and action. With technology we are helped to improve in so many things, but at the same time it makes distraction easier. Take the time to distract yourself, it is physiological, but also to define a strategic planning of your work. You will benefit a lot by specialising the time you spend.
- Priority ideas to be implemented require a planning. First of all not all things have the same relevance, so prioritise them. Once done, make sure you have the important items planned to be achieved considering all dependencies.
- Be conscious of what you are made of. Improving knowledge of our strengths and leadership styles. It is important to know each other capabilities and value respective strengths, which will also be recognised by the rest of the team. At the same time identify your weaknesses. It is a journey that if done honestly can be painful, but certainly a source of growth.
